Sawtooth Forum & Lecture Series: Mountain Chronicles
Join the Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical Association [SIHA] for the 14th annual Sawtooth Forum & Lecture Series, an outdoor, weekly program. Free to the public thanks to primary series sponsors: Redfish Lake Lodge and the MacNichol Family in honor of Roland MacNichol. The series brings experts and storytellers to the Stanley Museum to present on a variety of topics (see list below!) It begins Friday, July 9, and continue each Friday through August 27, at 5 p.m. at the Stanley Museum, less than one mile north of Stanley on Highway 75. The 2021 Sawtooth Forum & Lecture Series: Mountain Chronicles July 9 - August 27, every Friday, 5pm, Stanley Museum July 9 -- fluvial geomorphologist, Dr. Jaime Goode, discusses her work throughout the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, "Fires, Floods, and Fish: Climate Change in the Middle Fork." July 16 -- retired USFS mining engineer, Jeff Gabardi, presents, "Stories of Miners and Prospectors in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area." July 23 -- local packing, fishing, floating, and ski guides, Julie Meissner, Rebekah Cain, and Bev Angel, present a night of storytelling called, "The Guiding Life: Perspectives from Idaho Women Guides." July 30 -- Idaho State University professor, Tim Frazier, returns with a Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve presentation called, "Cosmic Artillery: Meteors and Their Impact on our Planet and Civilization." Aug. 6 -- associate professor, Dr. Jen Pierce, from the Boise State Department of Geoscience discusses, "Climate Change in Idaho: Past, Present, and Future." Aug. 13 -- research biologist, Jessica Pollock, and education director, Heidi Ware Carlisle, with the Intermountain Bird Observatory present, "Hummingbirds: Gems of Idaho." Aug. 20 -- research ecologist with the Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center, Dr. Erik Beever, discusses, "American Pika: Vulnerability, Resilience, Conservation." Aug. 27 -- outdoor journalist and CEO of Tight Line Media, Kris Millgate, presents, "Ocean to Idaho."
