Soundscapes with the Idaho Falls Symphony

Join us for an evening of drinks, hors d’oeuvres and transcendent Romantic music featuring Idaho Falls Symphony’s principal violist, Lisa McNiven, pianist Jessica Gibbons and soprano Rebecca Pyper-Busselberg in a program transcending the limits of our ordinary experiences.
Transcendence: Viola, Voice & Piano
Johannes Brahms was considered by some a reactionary, and by others a revolutionary, but by all accounts a romantic devil when it came to the ladies. But his compositions were absolute music!
Franz Liszt loved to play Chopin. And Chopin loved to have Lizst play his music because he was a genius! But Chopin was jealous. Jealous of Liszt’s virtuosity and possibly of women throwing their room keys at him during performances.
Rebecca Clarke persevered as a woman composer in a man’s world. Pulled from school by an abusive father when a professor proposed marriage, she nevertheless composed and performed and transcended above the odds to become, as one critic wrote, a revelation.
